Overview
On this fast-paced tour, you'll discover the beauty of the High Atlas range, the famous ksar (Aït Ben Haddou), the many charms of the verdant Draa valley and finally the enchantment of the Sahara.
Day 1:
Depart in the morning to cross the High Atlas via the Tizi'n Tichka pass, which rises to 2260 m. Magnificent views! Lunch on the road. Arrive early afternoon at Aït Ben Haddou. Over 50 films were shot here in the 20th century! Emerging from the ochre earth from which it drew its substance, Aït Ben Haddou is one of Morocco's most prized sites. We'll take the time to visit this ksar (fortified village), classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. It is emblematic of the pre-Saharan mud-brick architecture of southern Morocco. It's a very old ksar, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site... You'll be able to admire the splendid sunset as we'll be dining and sleeping there.
Day 2 :
Morning departure for Ouarzazate. We continue on to Zagora, crossing the Draa valley with a short stretch of track to take in the pretty palm groves and pass through the small villages and allotments under the palm trees... Lunch will be taken en route. In the late afternoon, we arrive at M'hamid, the last oasis in the Draa Valley before the desert. This village is nicknamed the gateway to the desert. We'll make our way to a comfortable bivouac nearby for dinner and a night's sleep. This will give you a taste of the desert.
Day 3 :
In the morning, departure for a camel ride. After a picnic lunch, we'll set off by 4×4 towards the great Chegaga dunes, the most beautiful part of the Moroccan desert, forming a magnificent sea of sand that stretches for 40 km and rises up to 300 metres. Arriving at the dunes is an unforgettable sight... We'll have dinner and spend the night in a bivouac in nomad tents.
Day 4 :
Departure by 4×4 to Foum Zguid, crossing Lake Iriqui and the hamada de cailloux (high plateau). We will then rejoin the road to pass through Taznakht, the city of carpets, visit some small Berber villages and have lunch. Finally, we return to Marrakech through mountain scenery.
