Overview

This ksar (fortified village) has been declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.UNESCO at 1987. It is emblematic of the pre-Saharan earth and mud brick architecture of southern Morocco.

This village is lit up by a burning sun 320 days per year and has all the makings of a film set. During the 20th century more than 50 films have been filmed here! Emerging from the ochre earth from which it draws its substance, Aït Ben Haddou is one of the most popular sites in Morocco. You can take some remarkably beautiful photos...

Although it is often used as a film set, the architectural style has been well preserved. Earthen buildings are perfectly adapted to the climatic conditions and harmonise with the natural and social environment. Earth and wood are the building materials here, and cement is banned.

Departure in the morning 08h00 to take the road over the High Atlas via the Col de Tizi-N-Tichka which takes in some sumptuous scenery. Lunch will be taken en route or at Ait Ben Haddou depending on the timing. There are no time constraints, the main thing being to make the most of every moment. You'll also have time to enjoy wandering through the narrow streets of this typical ksar. Perhaps the day will end with a marvellous sunset in this dream setting!

Back to Marrakech back to your hotel in the late afternoon 18h30.
