What equipment do you need for desert excursions and hikes?
- Shoes : Choose comfortable, lightweight shoes that are suitable for walking. A second pair to alternate between is highly recommended to avoid repetitive rubbing and blisters. Scratch-off walking sandals, worn with socks, are ideal for the desert.
- Clothing : Take a warm jumper for chilly nights, a windbreaker for windy days and comfortable clothing for excursions.
- Sun protection : Don't forget an effective sun cream, lip balm and a hat or cap to protect you from the sun.
- Hygiene : Bring wipes, toilet paper (to be burnt with a lighter after use to protect the environment) and a small towel.

What do you need to pack for bivouacs in the desert?
- Sleeping bag : Mandatory for itinerant bivouacs, it guarantees personal and hygienic sleeping accommodation. A blanket can be added for extra comfort. For fixed bivouacs, a sleeping bag is generally not necessary.
- Torch : A torch or headlamp is essential to keep you lit at night.
- First aid kit : Prepare a kit containing bandages, paracetamol, an anti-diarrhoeal and your usual medicines.

What luggage should you choose for the desert?
When preparing your camel trek, limit your belongings to what is strictly necessary for the ride. Dromedaries can easily carry soft bags, but not hard cases. Unnecessary items can be left in a safe place at the agency or in your car.
